The trekking trail of Annapurna Circuit Trek

This amazing Annapurna Circuit Trek begins from the Khudi, by following the Marshyangdi river valley and ends up in the world deepest gorge, Kali Gandaki Gorge. 21 days itinerary for Annapurna circuit trek, will be carefully organized by Real Sherpa Adventurous. This amazing trek will be starting from the tropical valleys traverse through Marsyangdhi river valley and touches the heart of some indigenous highland Himalayan people. This legendary trek will offer you every different climatic zone in the world and explore several villages such as; Sirung, Jagat, Dharapani, Chame, Pisang, Manang, Yak Kharka and finally reach to Thorang Phedi, where you can go up to Thorong La Pass, the highest pass in the Annapurna region. As you reach to the top of the Thorang La Pass, you can have great Himalayas views such as; Mt. Gundang, Thorung Peak, Mt. Syagang, Mt. Khatungkan, and many more. After exploration, we will return back to Kathmandu by following various stunning places in Nepal such as; we will explore Muktinath, the most sacred place for both Hindu and Buddhists, and then we will come back to Ghorepani, where you can make our hike to Poon Hill, famous viewpoint for incredible sunrise and other majestic mountains peaks.

The best seasons to trek on Annapurna region

September, October, November, and December are the best months to trek, explore and visit Annapurna Circuits trek. In these months, the trekking trail also is good and the trails are also bursting with trekkers. Apart from these months, the spring season is also a favored season which falls from February to May. In the season, the weather is pleasant and the temperature is also good for trekking and having excellent crystal-clear mountain views. Although in Nepal whole year is fine to make a vacation trip, some trekkers preferred spring and Autumn seasons to trek the most.

  1. Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300 m/4,264 ft)

    As you arrive at the international airport in Kathmandu, one of our representatives will greet you and take you to your hotel. After check-in, you can take some rest. We will introduce to your guide and greet you with some welcome drinks. In the evening, you can stroll around the Thamel Bazaar and familiarize yourself with the place. Attend a short orientation provided by our representative about the Annapurna Circuits Trek. Have a welcome dinner with our team and stay overnight in the hotel at Kathmandu.

  2. Day 02 Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

    Have breakfast and then you have the whole day to explore the best Kathmandu Sightseeing spots with your guide. You can visit and explore one of the most famous Shiva temples, Pashupatinath, recognized as the monkey temple; Swyambhunath, largest Stupa in the world, also called Boudhanath Stupa; and finally the Royal Palace, Kathmandu Durbar Square. The next day, you will begin your trek on the Annapurna Circuit, so you have to check your equipment to make sure that you are ready for your adventure and climb. Have dinner and stay overnight in the same hotel at Kathmandu.

  3. Day 03 Drive to Khudi (800 m/2,624 ft): 7- 8 hours

    On this day, we will begin our journey after having breakfast, by following some beautiful hills on a winding road along the Trishuli River. On the way to Khudi, we will get chances to admire terraced farms and beautiful huts. Around 7 to 8 hours’ trek will take you to Khudi, first arriving at the juncture at Mugling, then continuing straight ahead towards Pokhara. On the way, you will also pass Dumre, head north to Besisahar, and finally, reach Khudi, the starting point of our trek. As you reach Khudi, enjoy the majestic view of the of the impressive Manaslu range.

  4. Day 04 Khudi to Sirung (2200 m/7216 ft): 6 - 7 hours

    This morning we will have breakfast and continue to trek onwards to Sirung, which is situated at an elevation of the 2200 m. We will continue the trek by crossing some beautiful suspension bridges and waterfalls on the way while making several ascents and descents across rice paddies and subtropical forest. The trail will start gradually, and eventually gain some steepness. We can enjoy views of Khudi Mountain as it gets closer. Before we reach Sirung, we will also get chances to counter the Tamang People who inhabit Taranche. As we reach today’s destination, we will admire close-up views of spectacular mountains such as; Nadi Chuli, and Manaslu. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guesthouse at Sirung.

  5. Day 05 Sirung to Jagat (1,300 m/4265 ft): 6 - 7 hours

    Have breakfast and continue to trek on a relatively easy trail, then pass behind the terraced village to hit forest, ferns, and woodland. As you follow the forest trail, you can enjoy the sound of birds chirping before our trek passes through several small villages and a few temples on the way. During our trek onwards, we will also cross several suspension bridges over Sangu Khola at Mipra then again at Syange over the Marshyangdi River. As the trail goes ahead, we will even get chances to witness and explore the waterfall near the bridge when the path joins the mighty Marshyangdi River. Afterward, we will cross one more bridge and eventually we will arrive at Jagat. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house at Jagat

  6. Day 06 Jagat to Dharapani (1,960 m/6,430 ft): 7-8 hours

    After breakfast, we will begin to slowly descend until we reach the beautiful river and then continue to trek through a lush forest. The trail starts to ascend and will lead us to a sharp-edged cliff facing the riverbank, with striking views of the Annapurna mountain range in the backdrop at Chyamje. We will then cross a suspension bridge and continue steeply climb upwards, which will be quite challenging until we will reach Sattale. After Sattale, we will again descend along a succession of rock-strewn trails and encounter beautiful Tal. The path from Tal is rugged and winding until we finally reach the steeply-forested village of Karte. Moving past Kharte, we will witness stunning waterfalls and cliffs and ultimately arrive at Dharapani after crossing a suspension bridge. Have dinner and stay overnight in Dharapani.

  7. Day 07 Dharapani to Chame (2,710 m/8,891 ft): 5 - 6 hours

    On this day, have an early breakfast and continue to trek through a few forested ridges on our way to Chame, the headquarters of the Manang District. For the whole day, the trail will offer you amazing views of the Himalayas including Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, and Annapurna IV (7,525m/24,688ft) and so on. We will also get chances to bathe in a hot spring, where it is believed that bathing in the ancient waters will soothe your aching muscles. As you reach Chame, you can stroll around the village and explore the place. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guesthouse at Chame.

  8. Day 08 Chame to Pisang (3,300 m/10824 ft): 5 - 6 hours

    Have breakfast and continue our trek on a steep and narrow trail through dense forest and a dramatic curved rock face, rising 1500 m above the river. On the way, many of the most breathtaking, highest mountains will accompany you. As you continue, the trek will lead you to where the valley opens, in which stands the Paungda Danda, a massive sloping rock face. A few hours walk from there will take you to lower Pisang. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guesthouse at Pisang.

  9. Day 09 Pisang to Manang: 6 - 7 hours

    Have breakfast and continue the trek to Manang by following the upper Pisang route. On the way, you enjoy excellent views of the beautiful landscape and the magnificent Himalayas such as; Annapurna and Pisang. The ensuing trek will take us to Manangwhere upon arrival we can stroll around and explore the Braga Monastery, the largest monastery in the entire district of Manang. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house of Manang.

  10. Day 10 Manang: Acclimatization day

    The whole day, we will explore Manang. After having breakfast, we can make the short hike up to either Bhojo Gumba or Gangapurna Lake, depending on your preference. As you reach the top, take in some splendid views of the Himalayas and the valley below. After exploration, you will return to Manang for the night. Have dinner and stay overnight in Manang.

  11. Day 11 Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110 m/13,484 ft): 3 - 4 hours

    On this day we will have breakfast and continue our trek towards Yak Kharka, which is situated at an elevation of 4110 meters. As we continue our trek, we will encounter various villages such as Manang village, Tenki, and Ghunsa as we follow a stream, and the Marshyangdi Valley, northwest up the valley of Jarsang Khola. The ensuing trail will follow some beautiful juniper trees, as we steadily gain elevation. The trail further passes through meadows where you can see horses and yaks grazing. Then you will cross a small river on a wooden bridge. Before you reach Yak Kharka, the trail passes an ancient Mani wall in a pleasant meadow. Have dinner and stay overnight at Yak Karka.

  12. Day 12 Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,600 m/15,092 ft): 3 - 4 hours

    After breakfast, we will begin our journey onwards to Thorong Phedi, which lies at its highest point at 4600 meters. Today we have to make an uphill walk to reach Thorang Phedi. During our climb, the trail will offer us a beautiful suspension bridge to cross and take us to vibrant Ledar Village. Our trail ascends further and passes through towering cliffs before reaching Thorang Phedi. As you reach Thorang Phedi, the Phedi will reward you with the magnificent views of Mt. Gundang, Thorung Peak, Mt. Syagang, Mt. Khatungkan, and many more. Have dinner with splendid views of the mountains and stay overnight in the guest house at Thorang Phedi.

  13. Day 13 Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (3,800 m/12,467 ft) via Thorong La pass (5416 m/17764 ft): 7 - 8 hours

    This morning after having breakfast, we will continue our journey as usual. Early in the morning, we will hike to reach one of the highest passes, Thorong La, where we will be stunned by the view that the pass offers us. You can capture so many breathtaking photos of the scenery and the beautiful peaks lining the horizon. After exploration, you can make your way on foot straight to Muktinath. Around 7 to 8 hours’ trek will take you to this most sacred place, where you can explore the famous temple. Have dinner and stay overnight in Muktinath.

  14. Day 14 Muktinath to Marpha (2,670 m/8,760 ft): 4 - 5 hours

    Before having breakfast, we will visit Muktinath, an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists alike. We will explore Vishnu Temple and a Gompa situated nearby. We will also take a bath in the 108 waterspouts, where it is believed that once you bath in the waters, it guarantees salvation after death. After exploration, you will descend to Ranipauwa village by following a steep and barren hillside to reach Kagbeni. As you reach Kagbeni, you will trek to Marpha by following the Jomsom. Today’s trail will offer so many surreal sights as we hike along a plateau above the Kali Gandaki River, the world’s deepest gorge, the barren landscape which resembles Tibet, and so much more. At Marpha, you can visit the apple orchards and taste different foods made from apples. Have dinner and stay overnight at Marpha.

  15. Day 15 Marpha to Kalopani (2,530 m/8,300 ft): 5 - 6 hours

    Have breakfast and begin the trek from Marpha to Kalopani by following a new trail from Marpha. We will take the route toward Kalopani via Chokhopani village, where we will trek by some traditional villages of the ethnic Thakali people along the way. We will also get chances to visit more apple orchards and have enjoyed local apple products. On the way, we can also enjoy panoramic views of the different Himalayan Mountains such as; Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Nilgiri, Mt. Tukuche, Mt. Mt. Annapurna I, and their neighboring snow-capped peaks. The trail will then take us to Kalopani. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guesthouse at Kalopani.

  16. Day 16 Kalopani to Tatopani (1,200 m/3,937 ft): 6 - 7 hours

    Have breakfast and begin to trek mostly downhill. The trail will cross the bridge at Ghasa and drop down to lower elevations. We will follow subtropical forests, lush with vegetation, Rupse Chahara (waterfall) along the way and continue downhill to the east bank from Kopchepani via Garpar to a bridge at Dana. The trail ahead crosses several villages and reaches Tatopani, where we will get chances to bathe in the local hot spring. People believe that the natural hot water at Tatopani has a healing power to eradicate all skin disease. Have dinner and stay overnight in Tatopani.

  17. Day 17 Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,850 m/9,350 ft): 7 - 8 hours

    After having breakfast, we will begin our trek towards Ghorepani, which is situated at an elevation of the 2850 m/9350 ft. We will follow the Kali Gandaki and then Ghar Khola valley and head through the terraced farmland with beautiful mountains in the background. The trail will then pass the villages of Shikha and Chitre and follow beautiful a rhododendron forest until it finally reaches Ghorepani, a famous village on the top. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house at Ghorepani.

  18. Day 18 Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani (2,700 m/8,860 ft): 6 - 7 hours

    Early in the morning, before having breakfast, we will make the short hike to Poon Hill for an impressive sunrise and alluring mountain views. Poon Hill, at an elevation of 3210 m/10,529 ft, is one of the most famous viewpoints in the Annapurna region. From this viewpoint, we can enjoy captivating views of more than 20 of the highest peaks in the Annapurna region. After exploration, we will return to Ghorepani by the trail downhill along rhododendron forests. Before reaching Tadapani, you will witness beautiful waterfalls. As you reach Tadapani, you can stroll around the village and encounter the local people. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guesthouse of Tadapani.

  19. Day 19 Tadapani to Pokhara (827 m/2,789 ft) via Ghandruk: 5 - 6 hours trek, 1-hour drive

    Today after breakfast, we will continue to trek along a steeply descending trail by following a dense and dark forest on the way. There will be a thick forest of old rhododendron trees that are in bloom, making the forest seem like a fantastic garden. The ensuing trek will take us to the village of Ghandruk, a sloped settlement with stone houses mostly inhabited by the Gurung people, where we can enjoy the strikingly close-up, towering views of Annapurna South, Fishtail, the Hiunchuli mountains, and the Annapurna range. After exploration, we will return back to Nayapul where a private vehicle will take us back to Pokhara. Have dinner and stay overnight in the hotel at Pokhara.

  20. Day 20 Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu: 5-6 hours

    After having breakfast, we will drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara, the naturally beautiful city. Around 5 to 6 hours’ drive will provide you with breathtaking views of the scenic surroundings, beautiful landscapes, several ethnic settlements, and little shops along the way. When you reach Kathmandu, check in and take some rest if you wish. If you desire to do some souvenir shopping in the vibrant Thamel bazaar, then you can. On this day, enjoy our farewell dinner with entertainment provided in typical Nepali cultural style to celebrate the successful completion of our journey. Stay overnight in the same hotel at Kathmandu.

  21. Day 21 Final departure

    Today is your final day in Nepal with us. It is time to fly back to your home, keeping all your exhilarating experiences of Nepal in mind. Our representative will help you to find your gate and drop you off at the Airport 3 hours ahead of your flight. We hope we will meet again in your next adventures in the wonderful country of Nepal. We wish you a safe trip.

Hotels, Tea Houses and Lodges

Accommodation in Kathmandu will be in a 3 or 4-star hotel.

Accommodation during the trek will be in tea house or lodges. Some accommodations at lower altitudes offer fully equipped rooms with electricity, western toilet facility, wi-fi, and hot showers. Whereas some tea houses, especially at the higher altitude offer very basic kind of services.

You will be accommodated on a twin-basis during the trek. Most single rooms have twin beds with some basic furniture like a small table or a chair. If you want a single room for yourself, let us know in advance before the trek.

Normally, beds contain pillow and sheets. Almost all tea houses provide blankets but it is advisable to use your sleeping bag which will be provided by us in case it becomes too cold.

Some tea houses especially those at lower altitudes have proper western toilets. As you move higher some tea houses use squat toilet facilities. Also, it is important to know that some tea houses do not provide toilet paper in the toilets.

In higher altitudes, you will usually have to pay extra for charting electronic devices or taking a hot shower. Laundry services are also available in some lodges at an extra price. Wifi cards can also be bought at these lodges. There are multiple options available depending on the data limit and speed.
