The route to the Everest Base Camp via Gokyo Lakes and Cho La Pass is filled with rhododendron flowers that lead you up and downhill, towards barren land, glacial valleys and small remote villages. Trekking through the Everest region takes you to the rugged Himalayan lands, filled with narrow ridges, suspension bridges, beautiful glacier lakes, rivers, and chortens.   1. Day 01 Arrival at Kathmandu International Airport and Transfer to the Hotel

    A very warm welcome from our entire team in Nepal. After your arrival at Kathmandu (Tribhuvan) International Airport, meet one of our representativeswho will be waiting at the gate to welcome you and take you to your hotel. Aftercheck-in, relax for sometime. After a while we will invite you to our office for a short meeting with our energetic team. Also, we will briefly introduce you to your tour guide, who will be useful for your journey in the Everest region.

    According to your flight schedule and arrival time in Nepal, we will conduct a meeting. Get ready, as we will invite you to dinner in theevening. Pure Nepali cuisine will be waiting for you in a Nepali restaurant where you will enjoy a live cultural dance.Nepal is famous for its various unique cultural events.

  2. Day2 One-day Trip around the Kathmandu Valley and Trek Preparation

    You will start your first day in our beautiful Himalayan land with a healthybreakfast.. Today, we will go on a short trip around the Kathmandu valley for sightseeing. Your tour guide will take you to different cultural and historical sites.A visit to Pashupatinath, Swayambunath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Squareis on the itinerary. These sites represent centuries-old Nepali culture, tradition, and art.

    Returning from an entire day of sightseeing, a meeting on trek preparation will be held at our office. The meeting focuses on topics related to trekking, such as the necessary equipment. Please feel free to ask any questions regarding trekking, no questions willremain unanswered. After the meeting, you can visit the wonderful and renowned tourist area; Thamel. Here, you can buy all the equipment required for your trek in Nepal. Before embarking on your trek, we strongly recommend that you check your essentials carefully.

  3. Day 03 Fly to Lukla (2,800m) from Kathmandu and Trek to Phakding (2,660m/8,700ft)

    Flight Time: 40 minutes, Trek Duration: 3 to 4 hours

    After having breakfast and checking out of your hotel, one of our representatives along with your tour guide willtransfer you to Kathmandu Domestic Airport an hour beforethe flight is scheduled. 40 minutes of breathtaking flighttakes you to Lukla (Tenzing Hillary Airport) from where all treks in the Everest region begin. On the flight to Lukla, you will witness the beauty of Nepal as a whole. White mountains, green forests, diverse landscapes, and more can be observed from the top. Meet with the remaining trekking crew and thelocal porters in Lukla andbecome more familiar with them.

    After taking rest and having lunch, we will move forward towards Phakding. Walking downhill through a quaint village; Chaurikharka, moderate climb to the mountainside on the bank of the Dudh Koshi River, and an easy walk, you will reach Phakding. This place is famous for the local monastery. Explore around the village and monastery for the rest of the day in Phakding.

  4. Day 04 Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,280ft) from Phakding

    Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours

    A trek to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Everest region offers you the first beautiful glimpse of Mt. Everest. After having an early breakfast, the trail continues through the Dudh Koshi River, dense forests filled with Himalayan pine, deodar, cedar, juniper, and fir. Small Sherpa settlements will pop up on the way. You will cross many suspension bridges and follow an ascending path until you reach Namche.

    The Namche Bazaar is a historic trading post for both Tibetan and Nepalese people. Decorated with rhododendron flowers and strings of prayer flags, the trails provide you views of not only Mt. Everest, but also Mt. Nuptse and Mt. Lhotse. Walk around the colorful and attractive town of the Khumbu region.

  5. Day 05 Altitude Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

    The higher you go in terms of elevation, the bigger the chance of having altitude sickness. To get acclimatized to the higher altitude, a short hike around Namche will be productive. Remaining physically active throughout the acclimatization day is what we recommend to every trekker.

    Witness the splendid view ofMt. Everest and other mountains such as Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Thamserku, and Nuptse, including the Himalayan landscapes from Syangboche airport and the Everest View Hotel. Hike up to there! Also, visit the local Sherpa museum and learn the history of Mt. Everest, the Sherpa people, and their culture.

  6. Day 06 Trek to Dole from Namche Bazaar (4,200m/13,420ft)

    Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours

    After having breakfast, we will begin our trek to Dole from the town. Today’s trail goes uphill and then contours around the hillside where you can enjoy the views of Mt. Everest and Mt. Khumjung. The trail then ascends along the lower slopes of Khumbila, then goes through the Dudh Koshi valley and climbs steeply to the small settlement of Mong La from where a descending path up to Phortse Thenga followed by an ascent through a rhododendron forest takes you to Dole. From here, take in the splendid views of snow-capped peaks and encounter the Himalayan wildlife such as colorful pheasants, Tahrs, birds, etc.

  7. Day 07 Trek to Machhermo from Dole (4,410m/14,663ft)

    Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours

    Today’s trail goes through thorny alpine scrub to picturesque ridges above the Dudh Koshi River. Macchermo is the last settlement before reaching the Gokyo valley. The trail offers you breathtaking views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Kangtega.

  8. Day 08 Trek to Gokyo from Machhermo (4,750m/15,744ft)

    Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours

    After having breakfast, we will gently walk to a ridge line from the village enjoying the views of Mt. Kangtega, Mt. Thamserku, and the north face of Mt. Cho Oyu. Then, the trail drops to the river and crosses a metal bridge over the first of the six sacred Dudh Koshi Lakes; Longponga Tsho (4,690m). A strenuous walk beyond the lake leads to the summer village of Gokyo that lies sideways on the moraine overlooking the blue-green Dudh Pokhari, which bestrides the foothills of Gokyo Ri.

  9. Day 09 Altitude Acclimatization Day in Gokyo Valley

    Acclimatization days prepare you for higher elevation and reduce the chance of having altitude sickness. Remaining physically active throughout the day will properly adapt you for greater altitude. The Gokyo valley offers a view from the fourth to the sixth lakenorth of the village, which are the sources of the Dudh Koshi River that we follow from Lukla. Hiking up a gentle climb for about 3 km north of the village to Thonak Tsho (4,870m), the Ngozumpa Tsho (4,980m), and Scoundrel’s viewpoint (5,000m). From these elevations, you will enjoy close-up views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Makalu. With another 2 hours of descent, you will return to the Gokyo valley.

  10. Day 10 Trek to Gokyo Ri from Gokyo (5,360m/17,483ft) and Trek to Thangnak(4,700m/15,580ft)

    Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours

    After an early breakfast, the start of today’s trek leads you towards the northern side of Gokyo Lake,whichinvolves about two hours’ climb up to the summit of Gokyo Ri. The summit offers you unimaginable vistas of the Himalayan chain that comprises of Mt. Cho Oyu, the north face of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cholatse, Mt. Taboche. Mt. Thamserku, Mt.Kusum Kanguru, and many more including the view of Ngozumpa glacier; the largest glacier in the Everest region. After spending sometime at the summit, we will continue our walk towards Thangnak. After a descending walk passing the second lake; Taboche Tsho, and climbing up the moraine, we will reach a small summer settlement; Thangnak. Take the rest of the day to relax and save your energy for the following early morning hike up to Cho La Pass.

  11. Day 11 Trek to Cho-La-Pass (5,366m/17,601ft)from Thangnak and Trek to Dzonglha (4,843m/15,845ft)

    Trek Duration: 8 to 9 hours

    This is the most challenging trail up to now. After having an early breakfast, we will start our climb at an elevation of 5,366 meters. The trail is steep as it climbs through the grazing land, over a hill, and then drops down to a small valley before heading towards a vast, loose, scree slope. Despite the hardships you will face today, you will be rewarded with the magnificent view of the surrounding peaksof Cholatse, Baruntse, Lobuche East and West, Ama Dablam and Kyajo Ri, among others, and the glacier valley from the top after reaching Cho La Pass. We will then descend to the glacier by a rock climb and then continue through a moderate landscape to reach Dzonglha.

  12. Day 12 Trek to Lobuche (4,900m/16,207ft) from Dzonglha

    Trek Duration: 4 to 5 hours

    Today’s trail is nice and short as it takes us on a downhill walk towards the valley around the ridge below Awi Peak, and then a gradual slope before reaching Lobuche. The trail offers you views of Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Pumori. Mt. Lobuche Peak, Mt. Ama Dablam, and so on.

  13. Day 13 Trek to Gorak Shep (5,180m/16,930ft) from Lobuche and Everest Base Camp (5,365m/17,594ft) and Return to Gorak Shep

    Trek Duration: 8 to 10 hours

    Another rewarding day for Everest trekkers! After a short climb through meadows, we will look down on the Khumbu Glacier. Straight ahead is Kala Patthar, the best vantage point from which to view the entire south face of Mt. Everest and the surrounding peaks. After a couple of hours, we will get to Gorak Shep, and continue our journey to base camp. There is not much elevation gain, but there are a lot of ups and downs and, combined with altitude, this can be a tiring portion of the trek but the journey is worth it. After approximately 3 hours of hiking, you will arrive at base camp and enjoy views of the Khumbu Glacier and icefall, where Everest expeditions begin. Witness the views of the surrounding mountains standing right in front of you! Afterwards, a downhill walk leads to Gorak Shep by following the same trail.

  14. Day 14 Trek to Kala Patthar (5,500m) from Gorak Shep and Trek to Pheriche (4,285m/14,075ft)

    Trek Duration: 8 to 10 hours

    To witness the more impressive views of Mt. Everest (8,848m) and the surrounding highest mountains on Earth, an early morning start is recommended to escape the barrier caused by the strong wind. Today’s trek comprises of both ascending and descending walks. The view from Kala Patthar is incredible as it offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Mt. Everest (8,848m) and the surrounding mountains like Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, and many more. Also, witness the sunrise as it rises above the Himalayan chain. Later, we will trek to Pheriche village.

  15. Day 15 Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,445m/11,284ft) from Pheriche

    Trek Duration: 8 to 9 hours

    We will trek downhill through pathssurrounded by rhododendron flowers and juniper trees.Cross the prayer-flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, and then descend rapidly through the pine forests to reach Namche Bazaar. Encounter the diverse flora and fauna while trekking back to Namche; an attractive trade center in the Khumbu region. After returning, explore the market and interact with local people.

  16. Day 16 Trek to Luklafrom Namche Bazaar

    Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours

    Following the same route you trekked earlier, we will cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River, passing rhododendron forests, small Sherpa villages, prayer flags, and more. While trekking back to Lukla, re-witness the beautiful mountainous views, landscapes, and rivers.

  17. Day 17 Fly to Kathmandu

    After having breakfast, we will head towards the Tenzing Hillary airport as per our flight time. Re-experience the breathtaking flight to Kathmandu! You will be transferred to the hotelafter reaching Kathmandu domestic airport. Enjoy your successful completion of your longdays of trekking in Nepal!   18. Day 18 Final Departure

Hotels, Tea Houses and Lodges

Accommodation in Kathmandu will be in a 3 or 4-star hotel.

Accommodation during the trek will be in tea house or lodges. Some accommodations at lower altitudes offer fully equipped rooms with electricity, western toilet facility, wi-fi, and hot showers. Whereas some tea houses, especially at the higher altitude offer very basic kind of services.

You will be accommodated on a twin-basis during the trek. Most single rooms have twin beds with some basic furniture like a small table or a chair. If you want a single room for yourself, let us know in advance before the trek.

Normally, beds contain pillow and sheets. Almost all tea houses provide blankets but it is advisable to use your sleeping bag which will be provided by us in case it becomes too cold.

Some tea houses especially those at lower altitudes have proper western toilets. As you move higher some tea houses use squat toilet facilities. Also, it is important to know that some tea houses do not provide toilet paper in the toilets.

In higher altitudes, you will usually have to pay extra for charting electronic devices or taking a hot shower. Laundry services are also available in some lodges at an extra price. Wifi cards can also be bought at these lodges. There are multiple options available depending on the data limit and speed.
