Makalu Base Camp trek is filled with breathtaking high-altitude terrains, which gives you exposure to vibrant ethnic Himalayan settlements and their unique lifestyle, snow-clad landscapes, dense verdant rhododendron, bamboo, pine and juniper forests, rare and endangered flora and fauna, granite cliffs, hanging glaciers, beautiful overflowing waterfalls, and spectacular mountains views. Makalu Base Camp trekking route!
Beginning with a stunning scenic flight after exploration of the significant Kathmandu sites including Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Royal Kathmandu Durbar Square, we will begin our official trek from Tumlingtar. During our trek to Makalu Base Camp, we will explore several villages on the way with the spectacular Himalayans views. This 23 days long itinerary of Makalu Base Camp Trek will allow you to discover several beautiful villages of Tibetan and Sherpa. The trekking trail will go through the beautiful Arun and Barun Valley. On the way, a variety of stunning peaks such as Mt. Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Mt. Makalu (8481m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Baruntse (7129m), Chamlang (7319m), and other associated Himalayas can be seen. As you reach Base Camp, you can explore the incredible surroundings and after exploration, you will return to Kathmandu by following a different route.

Accommodation in Kathmandu will be in a 3 or 4-star hotel.
Accommodation during the trek will be in tea house or lodges. Some accommodations at lower altitudes offer fully equipped rooms with electricity, western toilet facility, wi-fi, and hot showers. Whereas some tea houses, especially at the higher altitude offer very basic kind of services.
You will be accommodated on a twin-basis during the trek. Most single rooms have twin beds with some basic furniture like a small table or a chair. If you want a single room for yourself, let us know in advance before the trek.
Normally, beds contain pillow and sheets. Almost all tea houses provide blankets but it is advisable to use your sleeping bag which will be provided by us in case it becomes too cold.
Some tea houses especially those at lower altitudes have proper western toilets. As you move higher some tea houses use squat toilet facilities. Also, it is important to know that some tea houses do not provide toilet paper in the toilets.
In higher altitudes, you will usually have to pay extra for charting electronic devices or taking a hot shower. Laundry services are also available in some lodges at an extra price. Wifi cards can also be bought at these lodges. There are multiple options available depending on the data limit and speed.
