Mount Kailash (Tibet) and Everest Base Camp Trek

After having breakfast and a brief meeting regarding our trek, we will visit the popular tourist attractions in Lhasa. Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace, and Tibetan Museum are our today’s destination. Visiting Potala Palace, you will see its buildings, built in the 17^th century, with numerous grand state rooms and chapels, which is the private quarters of the Dalai Lama. You will witness a fantastic view of the entire city from the Palace. Explore Norbulingka Palace; you will witness the beauty of the largest man-made garden in Tibet which was made as the summer palace for Dalai Lamas. Then, we will visit the Tibetan Museum which is the first large and modern museum in Tibet having a permanent collection of 1000 artifacts.

After having breakfast, we will visit Jokhang Temple, the Monasteries of Sera, Ganden, Drepung, and Barkhor Street. Jokhang temple is the most popular and ancient Tibetan sacred temple which unravels the deep seated mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism. Ganden, Sera, and Drepung monasteries are the three great Gelug university monasteries of Tibet which were built in the 14^th century. Later, we will stroll around the most popular market place in Tibet; Barkhor street which is considered the nerve center of Lhasa.

After breakfast and hotel check out, we will travel to Shigatse; the second biggest city in Tibet. You will pass Khamba La Pass (4,794 m), Karo La Glacier (5,045 m) and have a pleasant glimpse of Yamdrok-Tso (Turquoise Lake); one of the Holy Lakes in Tibet surrounded by snow-capped mountains and Mt. Nazin Kang Sa (7,252 m). We will visit the Khumbum Stupa, Phalkot Monastery, and Gyantse Dzong in Gyantse. While we enjoy the captivating mountainous landscapes, we will reach Shigatse.

After having breakfast and hotel check out, we will drive to Rongbuk. On the way, we will visit the Sakya Monastery, an ancient temple for Tibetan Buddhism. Reaching Rongbuk, we will visit the Rongbuk monastery which is located at the foot of the world’s highest mountain; Everest. Enjoy the stunning view of the mountains!

After having breakfast, we will spend the entire day exploring around the Everest Base Camp and take a picture. Today, you will stroll around and explore beautiful hills nearby and enjoy the stunning high Himalayan peaks. Have dinner and stay overnight at the camp.

After an early breakfast, continue to trek ahead to Saga. Around 7 to 8 hours’ trek will allow you to explore Paigu-Tso Lake and the Yarlung La pass. From Yarlung La Pass, you will have magnificent views of the Himalayas and Valley below. As we trek ahead and reach Saga, we can explore the small Tibetan town. Have dinner and stay overnight in Saga.

Have breakfast and begin to trek to Mansarovar, which is situated at 4,557 meters. As you continue to trek ahead, you can get your first look at Mt. Kailash’s face before continuing towards Lake Mansarovar which holds religious significance for both Buddhists and Hindus. Around 6 to 7 hours’ trek will take you to Mansarovar, which is also known as the personification of purity. You will get the chance to drink water from the lake, which is believed to go to the abode of Lord Shiva after death. After exploring Mansarovar, you will have dinner and stay there overnight.

After breakfast, you will continue the trek ahead to Darchen, which is situated at an elevation of 4600 meters. We will trek for around one hour with a stunning display of the brilliant Himalayas and finally arrive at Darchen, at the foot of the sacred Mt. Kailash. Have dinner and stay overnight in Darchen.

Today, we will have breakfast and continue to trek by following the kora of Mt. Kailash. You will follow a deep valley with walls of red rock and continue across the plain to Shershong. We remaining trek allows you to cross a bridge, which will lead you to Chhuku Gompa from where you can witness the high hill and valley. The remaining trail leads us to Dirapuk, which also offers us a stunning view of the north face of Mt. Kailash. Have dinner and stay overnight in Dirapuk.

In this second day of Kora, you will have breakfast and continue to trek ahead to the most difficult section of our journey.  We will continue to climb to Drolma-la Pass, which is situated at an elevation of 5,750 m/19,910 ft. You can enjoy witnessing the decorated pass, which is filled with five-colored prayer flags. From Drolma-La Pass, we will descend down to Dzutul-puk by crossing the incredible Thugje Zinbu (Lake of Compassion) and a few ancient meditative caves. Have dinner and stay overnight in Dzutul-puk.

Today, you will have breakfast and continue to trek back to Saga, at an elevation of 495 meters. During our back trek, we will drive from Darchen and pick up participants who did not complete the kora and finally arrive Saga. Have dinner and stay overnight in the Saga.

Today, have an early breakfast and continue to trek ahead to Shigatse by following Late. Follow the beautiful Tsangpo River and cross the upper Brahmaputra and its tributaries until you finally reach Shigatse. As you reach Shigatse, you can visit the ancient Tashilhunpo Monastery which was founded by Pachen Lama in 1447. Have dinner and stay overnight in Shigatse.

After breakfast, we will start our drive towards Lhasa. On the way, we can visit the ancient Shalu Monastery, which is known for its beautiful and ancient mural paintings. We will also come across the Karo La Pass (5,045 m) and the Khamba La Pass (4,794 m), from where we can have stunning views of the Himalayas.  On the way to Lhasa, you will also get chances to explore the beauty of Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake), one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet and the beautiful Nazin Kang Sang glacier (7,252 m). The remaining journey will take us to Lhasa. Have dinner and stay overnight in Lhasa.

Have breakfast and continue the journey by road from Lhatse to Rombuk. Today, you can visit the Tashilunpo Monastery and obtain a travel permit at Lhatse. The remaining trek will take us to Everest Base Camp by following Rombuk, Tsola Pass, Gyastola Pass, National Natural Reserve of Mt Everest, and Gawula Pass on the way. As you reach Everest Base Camp, you can have stunning views of the sunset and the Everest peaks. Have dinner and stay overnight at the Camp.

Today, you can enjoy your breakfast with a successful feeling in Rombuk, where you can also enjoy the golden sunrise and Everest peak views. After that, you will continue to journey ahead to Tingri with alluring and eye-captivating views of EBC. During your journey ahead, you can capture all the gorgeous scenes and moments with your camera. As you reach Tingri, you can still enjoy amazing views of the Everest Base Camp. Have dinner and stay overnight at Tingri.

Today, we will have breakfast and continue our journey towards Zhangmu, which is situated at an elevation of 2300 meters. This amazing driving journey will offer you awesome scenery on the way. As you reach the Zhangmu, you can stroll around the village and encounter with the local folks and their unique culture and traditions. Have dinner and stay overnight at Zhangmu

Have an early breakfast and continue driving back to Kathmandu. Around 7 to 8 hours’ drive will offer you pleasant green surroundings and vibrant villages on the way. As you reach Kathmandu, you can take some rest after checking in to your hotel. In the evening, you can enjoy a farewell dinner with typical Nepali cultural programming for the successful completion of your Mount Kailash trek. After your farewell dinner, stay overnight in the hotel.
