Mt. Kailash is one of the most famous and highest mountains in western Tibet. It is also known as a holy mountain for both Hindus, Buddhists, and followers of Bon (Tibet’s indigenous religion). Hindu people consider Mt. Kailash to be the Lord Shiva’s Throne. People usually believe that once you visit and do 108 Prikarmas on the holy mountain Kailash, it will provide you with salvation (Mukti) as well as remove the sins of a lifetime. Nearby, Mansarovar Lake, at an elevation of 14,950 meters is also known as the highest freshwater lake in the world. Sprawling below Mt. Kailaish, it is truly amazing. It is also believed that a ritual bath in the lake will deliver a pilgrim to Brahma’s paradise, and drinking its water will relinquish the sins of a hundred lifetimes. There are other major fascinating rivers; namely the Indus, Ganges, Sutlej, and Yarlong Tsangpo, which all originate from the stunning Mt. Kailash.
Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, standing at a peak of 8848 meters, stands witness to the outstanding pinnacles of the towering Himalayas and the incredible Tibetan plateau. Everest and Karo glacier, Yamdork Tso are simply amazing and add a flavor of serenity and tranquility to the wilderness of the Tibetan plateau and towering Himalayas for trekkers.
