A Brief Introduction on Some UNESCO World Heritage Sites!
Pashupatinath, listed in 1979 as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is recognized as one of the most sacred Hindu temples. Situated on the bank of the Bagmati River, “stone Linga” is worshipped here as a symbol of Lord Shiva. Exploring around the temple, you will see monkeys roaming around. Usually, at evening time, people visit this temple for evening Arati.
Swayambhunath is famous as a Monkey temple among foreign visitors. Surrounded by small forests, the temple has two great golden statues. You will also see many small shrines around the temple.
Boudhanath is the most massive white Buddhist Stupa in South Asia which was built in the 5th century. You will see four pairs of eyes of Lord Buddha watching in all directions. The temple is decorated with prayer wheels, Mani-walls, and monasteries.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square is a collection of Pagoda and Shikhara architectures. The Palace of fifty-five windows, art galleries, museums, Lion gate, a statue of King BhupendraMalla, and the golden gate are the major attractions of this place.
Kathmandu Durbar Square represents the ancient style of buildings with carving in its doors and windows. Kastamandap temple, Taleju temple, Kumari residence, and Hanuman Dhoka are the main highlights of this temple.
Changunarayan Temple is situated 12 km away from the city in a peaceful and natural environment. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is in pagoda style. You will see antique sculptures, carvings, statues, and idols in the temple.
