Island Peak, atan altitude of 6,189 meters is a very popular trekking peak and we will be climbing it next. This amazing peak also offers panoramic views of mountains such as Lhotse, Nuptse, Lhotse Shar, Makalu (8475m), Baruntse (7129m), Amadablam (6812m) and many more. Finally, we will climb Lobuche East Peak.

The expedition trail of Three peaks climbing

The fascinating 40 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla will be the beginning of our trekking adventure. From Lukla, the gateway of Everest region trek, we will begin a trek following the numerous Sherpa villages, juniper forests, terraced fields, yak pastures and pass by Buddhist Monasteries. We will acclimatize at the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar, which is the last large village before heading into more remote mountain villages. The trekking trail first goes to Pokalde Base Camp, which is situated at an elevation of 5806meters. It is a straightforward climb and you will be given some training on using ascenders, fixed ropes, and rappelling at the base camp. Then we will continue to climb Island peak, also known as ImjaTse peak. After this, the trail goes through Everest Base camp followed by the famous viewpoint Kala Patthar for impressive Himalayans views. Then we will continue the trek onwards to LobucheEast High Camp for our ascent of Lobuche East. After summiting Lobuche East, we will return to Kathmandu by Namche Bazaar and Lukla.

Best time for three peaks climbing

Autumn and spring are the ideal time to explore these exciting and adventurous three Peaks: Pokalde, Island, and Lobuche East in the Everest region of Nepal. In these seasons, the weather and temperature are quite favorable for climbingcompared to other seasons. Spring season implies the time from mid-March to May and autumn season includes the time from mid-September to November, in which all the surrounding is blooming with golden green leaves, white and red flowers of rhododendrons.

  1. Day 01 Arrival at Kathmandu

    A representative from Real Sherpa Adventures will welcome you at the exit gate of the Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to the respective hotel. After hotel check-in and getting fresh, take some rest. At evening time, join us for a welcome dinner in a Nepali restaurant along with live traditional and cultural dance. Enjoy the real taste of Nepal!

  2. Day 02 Kathmandu Sightseeing and Rest Day

    Before starting our Everest expedition, we will visit some of the famous and ancient sites in Nepal. Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square are the major highlights of today’s sightseeing. These sites represent the ancient art of Nepal. Every year, thousands of Hindu and Buddhist followers visit these sites.

    After returning from sightseeing, we will conduct an introductory meeting with our team and your tour guide. In the evening, explore the Thamel area. You will see many tourists roaming around the street of Thamel.

  3. Day 03 Fly to Lukla (2,800m) and Trek to Phakding (2,652m): Flight Duration: 40 mins, Trekking

    Duration: 3 to 4 hours

    After hotel check-out and morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the Kathmandu Domestic airport. Landing at Tenzing Hillary airport, you will take some rest and meet the porters there. The actual Everest journey begins here! The trail descends towards the DudhKoshi River, passing Chaurikharka village. Enjoying the beautiful view of Mt. Khumbila, you reach Phakding. The village offers you the spectacular views of Mt. KusumKanguru, Mt. Kwangde, and Mt. Nupla. Explore the village and interact with the locals!

  4. Day 04 Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) from Phakding

    Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

    Today’s trail passes through several small and traditional villages includingMonjo. You will cross the fast flowing DudhKoshi River over suspension bridges. On the way to Namche, enjoy the splendid views of Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. KusumKanguru. The trail offers you an opportunity to encounter the Himalayan wildlife while reaching Monjo village. Monjo is the entrance point for the Everest National Park. After arriving at the most delightful town of the Khumbu region, explore around the town.

  5. Day 05 Altitude Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

    Namche is the gateway to the Everest region, which offers the first glimpse of Mt. Everest. For the acclimatization process, we will hike up to the Everest view hotel or Syangboche. At the top, you will enjoy the beautiful vistas of Mt Everest, Mt. AmaDablam, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Nuptse including the panoramic view of Namche. Returning from a short hike, meet local Sherpa people and observe their unique lifestyle. Visit the local museum which was built by locals to preserve their history and culture. The museum will provide you additional information regarding Everest and Sherpa unique culture.  Namche Bazaar also has many ATMs, cafes, bars and shops so this may be the last chance to buy some equipment if necessary.

  6. Day 06 Trek to Tengboche (3,870m) from Namche Bazaar

    Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

    The trail passes through riverside uphill terrain. Surrounded by the hills, the beautiful Tengboche village lies at the confluence of the DudhKoshi river and the ImjaKhola. You will cross these rivers via festooned bridges and pass the strings of prayer flags, small yet, attractive settlements. Witness the vistas of snow-covered Himalayan ranges, rhododendron forests, and rivers.

  7. Day 07 Trek to Dingboche (4,360m) from Tengboche

    Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

    After having morning breakfast, we will continue our trek via Pangboche village. However, before trekking ahead, we will visit the famous Tengboche Monastery. The view of the sunrise over the towering mountains is breathtaking from the monastery. You will see the large settlement of the Sherpa people in this village. Pangboche is surrounded by Kongde range to the south, Mt. Everest to the north, Mt. Thamserku, Kangtaiga, and AmaDablam to the east. The fertile land of Pangboche is protected by long stoned-walls from the violent wind they usually occur here. We will visit the ancient Pangboche monastery. Walking through the moderate trail, we will reach Dingboche. This place offers you the mesmerizing views of Mt. Lhotse, AmaDablam, and the Island Peak. Explore around the area and interact with local people!

  8. Day 08 Altitude Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

    A short hike up to the NangkartshangGompa towards the north side of Dingboche helps you to acclimatize properly with higher elevation. From the top, witness the wonderful vistas of Mt. Makalu, Lobuche East peak (6,119m), Lobuche West (6,145m), Kangtega, Taboche Peak (6,367m), Thamserku, and AmaDablam including the beautiful views of Pheriche valley. On your return, take full rest!

  9. Day 9 Dingboche to Pokalde Base Camp [4,900m/16,072ft]: 4/5 hrs

    After morning breakfast we will depart forPokalde Base Camp. Asteep climbing trail around 4 to 5 hours brings us at the base camp of Pokalde Peak, which is located near a large circular lake in the middle below the Kongma La pass. You will see splendid views of Mt. Makalu, Amadablam, the southern face of the Nuptse and many other remarkable mountain peaks in the Everest region. Have dinner and stay overnight at Pokalde Peak Base Camp.

  10. Day 10 Pokalde Peak Base Camp to High Camp [5,400m/17712ft]: 4/5 hrs

    We will have morning breakfast and begin our trek by exploring Kongma La Pass, the famous viewpoint from where we can enjoy the witnessing majestic frozen lakes. On the way, wewill have stunning views of Pokalde Peak, Cholatse, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, AmaDablam and several other peaks in the Khumbu region. With some more breathtaking views, we will reach the High Camp of Pokhalde Peak. Have dinner and stay overnight at High Camp.

  11. Day 11 High Camp to Pokalde Peak Summit and Trek to Chhukung [4,730m/15,518ft]: 8/9 hrs

    In this morning have a morning breakfast and continue the trek onwards to Chhukung, which is situated at an altitude of 4730 meters. Today’s trekking trail will follow the slightly difficult climbing trail through following stones and reaches to the narrow rocky summit, Pokalde Peak, which offer us the most spectacular and panoramic views of the world’s highest mountains that include the views of Mt Makalu, Pumori, AmaDablam, and some neighboring peaks in the Khumbu region. After admiring captivating vistas from the top of the summit, we will retrace back following the Kongma La Pass to Chhukung. We will trek through the rocky knoll of ChhukungRi, with the stunning views of Lhotse, Island Peak, AmaDablam, Makalu and several others including Baruntse on the way. Have dinner and stay overnight at the Lodge in Chhukung.

  12. Day 12 Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp [5,200m/17,060ft]: 3/4 hrs

    Have an early morning breakfast and continue the trek by leaving the path from Chhukung, which is a gradual ascent towards the south. Then we will turn east to the main line of the valley. We will then wind along and head forward to the Lhotse Glacier and continue the short pleasant trekking along a streamside. The further trek will continue through the route from AmphuLapcha to the southeast and finally, arrive at the Island Peak Base Camp by following Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines. Have dinner and stay overnight in the camp at Island Peak Base Camp.

  13. Day 13 Island Peak Base Camp to Summit (6,189m/20,305ft) and back to Base Camp [5,200m/17,060ft]]: 12/13 hrs

    After early morning breakfast, we will continue the trek up to the Base Camp, at an elevation of 6189 meters. The climb will follow the steep hillside before becoming boulder strewn. As we climbfurther up the hill, we have to cross the narrow slopes, and the trail will enter into the steep rock and rock gully. Although the trekking trail is not so tough, we have to cross several short rock steps to climb up. The route then follows a ridgeline and glacier, where we might have to fix a rope if it’s required. The guide will help with fixing the ropes. After a couple of hours, you will climb up a headwall and a knife edge ridge to reach the summit. We will take some photographs of the incredible surrounding. After summit, we will return to Island Base Camp. Then we will have dinner and celebrate the successful completion of Island Peak Climbing. We will stay overnight at Base Camp.

  14. Day 14 Island Peak Base Camp to Dingboche [4,360 m/14,300 ft]: 5/6 hrs

    Have morning breakfast and continue the trek onwards to Dingboche, which is situated at an elevation of 4360meters. We will follow the mostly flat and downhill trek until we reach Dingboche. Have dinner and stay overnight in Dingboche.

  15. Day 15 Dingboche to Lobuche [4940 m/16,207 ft]: 5/6 hours

    After morning breakfast we will continue our trek climbing to Duglha while passing the Khumbu Khola valley. Our trekking trail will offer us views of the beautiful Khumbu Glacier. We will continue the trek ascending through the strewn slope to ChupkiLhara, and find an array of stones with prayer flags used as memorials to the fallen mountaineers including Scott Fischer (American mountaineer) and ten times Everest summiteer BabuChiri Sherpa (mountain guide from Nepal). As the trekking trail goes ahead following down to the Khumbu Glacier moraine,we will see several great peaks such as Khumbutse, Pumori, Lingtren and MahalangurHimal. Have dinner and stay overnight in the guest house of Lobuche.

  16. Day 16 Lobuche to GorakShep to Everest Base Camp [5364 m/17,594 ft.] to GorakShep [5170 m/16,961ft.]: 6-7 hrs

    After early morning breakfast, we will continue the trek onwards to Everest Base Camp, following the beautiful GorakShep Lake. Continuing straight ahead, we will get a chance to explore the incredible Khumbu glacier on the way. After a little strenuous walkat high altitudes over rocky dunes, moraine, and streams, we finally reach Everest Base Camp. There you can explore the stunning views of the Himalayas.  You can also appreciate the Khumbu icefall and admire the stunning views of nearby peaks including Mt. Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori. After exploring the Base camp, we will return to GorakShep and spend the night there.

  17. Day 17 GorakShep to Kala Patthar [5545 m/18,192 ft] to Lobuche [4940 m/16,207 ft]: 5/6 hrs

    During your trek back, you can also go KalaPatthar for one of the most incredible sunset views.We must move early in the morning in order to catch the sunrise.  As the rays strike the snow-capped mountains, the resulting scenery is undescribable. You will havehave majestic views of the nearby Peaks that include Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse, Nuptse and Everest. After exploring the mountains from Kala Patthar, we will follow back the trailfromGorakShep to Lobuche. Have dinner and stay overnight in Lobuche.

  18. Day 18 Lobuche to Lobuche East High Camp [5,400m/17,712 ft]: 4/5 hrs

    On this day, we will have morning breakfast and continue the trek forward to Lobuche East High Camp, which is situated at an elevation 5400meters above sea level. On this trek, we will leave Lobuche and follow the relatively flatter path to the Lobuche Base Camp. We will walk along the Lobuche Glacier and enjoy magnificent views of the stunning mountains such as AmaDablam, Pokalde, Cholatse, Thamserku, Kantega, and many more to finally reach the high camp. Have dinner and stay overnight at High Camp.

  19. Day 19 Lobuche High Camp to Lobuche summit [6119m/20,070 ft] and back to High Camp: 8/10 hrs

    Today we will accomplish our dream and go for the summit. After morning breakfast, our trek continues towards Lobuche Summit, which is situated at an elevation of 6119meters. Around 8 to 10 hours trek which includes walking on rocky steps and using fixed ropes will take us to the Lobuche summit, which offers us panoramic views of the mountains including Everest, AmaDablam, Nuptse, Cholatse, Pumori, and many more. Have dinner and stay overnight in the Lobuche Summit.

  20. Day 20 Reserve Day for Contingency

    Today’s work is reserved in case of bad weather or any other emergency.

  21. Day 21 Lobuche High Camp to Pangboche [3930m/12900 ft]: 6/7 hrs

    After having morning breakfast, we will continue the trek following downhill from the Lobuche Base Camp and join the Everest Base Camp route at Lobuche again. From Lobuche, we will continue the trek onwards to Pheriche. You will see the magnificent views of Mt. AmaDablam. As you reach Pheriche, you can continue the trek onward to Pangboche. On the way, striking peaks such as Pokalde, Thamserku, and Kantega among others will accompany you. The further trek will be downwards, following the hillside decorated by rhododendron and juniper trees, with its spring, pink and red rhododendron flowers that ablaze our surroundings. Eventually, we will reach Pangboche and explore the very famous   Pangoche Monastery over there. Have dinner and stay overnight in the Pangboche, at an elevation of 3930m.

  22. Day 22 Pangboche to Tengboche to Namche Bazaar [3,440 m/11,280 ft]: 5/6 hrs

    After morning breakfast, we will continue our trek crossing the prayer flag festooned bridge over the DudhKoshi River trail. The trail follows the beautiful DudhKoshi gorge and continues descending along the pine forests. The trekking trail eventually reaches Sansa. You may also encounter wild animals such as mountain goats, colorful pheasants and many more. Have dinner and stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.

  23. Day 23 Namche Bazaar to Lukla [2,800m/9,186ft]: 6/8 hrs

    After morning breakfast, we will continue the trek back following the gradual descending trail through the rocky terrain. You will also cross the suspension bridges over the fast flowing DudhKoshiriver and its tributaries. We will trek through the Sherpa villages, where we can observe and witness the majestic faith in Buddhism and culture of prayer stones and prayers flag. As you arrive at Lukla, you can explore the village and its nearby surroundings. Have dinner and stay overnight in the hotel at Lukla.

  24. Day 24 Lukla to Kathmandu

    After morning breakfast, you will take a domestic flight for Kathmandu from Lukla. Around 40 minutes scenic flight will take us to Kathmandu. After hotel check-in, you can take some rest. In the evening, you can stroll around the Thamel Bazaar and do some souvenir shopping. In the evening, you also can enjoy farewell dinner with a typical Nepali cultural program for celebrating the successful completion of Three Peaks climbing. You will stay overnight in Kathmandu.

    Note: On this day, you can visit and explore Kathmandu sightseeing, instead of staying at the room for rest. It is optional, and it depends upon your desire.

  25. Day 25 Final Departure

    This is your last day at Nepal for this trek. After having breakfast, one of our representatives will drop you at Kathmandu International Airport. You will be dropped 3 hours before your scheduled flight. We wish you a safe trip and hope to see you soon in this beautiful country Nepal.

Hotels, Tea Houses and Lodges

Accommodation in Kathmandu will be in a 3 or 4-star hotel.

Accommodation during the trek will be in tea house or lodges. Some accommodations at lower altitudes offer fully equipped rooms with electricity, western toilet facility, wi-fi, and hot showers. Whereas some tea houses, especially at the higher altitude offer very basic kind of services.

You will be accommodated on a twin-basis during the trek. Most single rooms have twin beds with some basic furniture like a small table or a chair. If you want a single room for yourself, let us know in advance before the trek.

Normally, beds contain pillow and sheets. Almost all tea houses provide blankets but it is advisable to use your sleeping bag which will be provided by us in case it becomes too cold.

Some tea houses especially those at lower altitudes have proper western toilets. As you move higher some tea houses use squat toilet facilities. Also, it is important to know that some tea houses do not provide toilet paper in the toilets.
