Upper Mustang Trek

We are met at the airport by our team and then transferred to our hotel. Briefing presenting the progress of the trek, then free time. In case of arrival in the morning, free day of rest, or the possibility of making free visits for those who wish (not included). It is the perfect opportunity to immerse you in Nepalese culture, to test the local gastronomy.

Today morning we take an early flight to Pokhara. It is the second-largest city of Nepal and our first night’s camp.

Warm breakfast in the morning we take a scenic flight to Jomsom. We will meet our trekking team and then start our trek. After walking 3 hours from Jomsom that brings us to Kagbeni. This amazing beautiful village is our gateway to the upper Mustang. To pass beyond this point we will need a special Mustang permit

We leave the classic route of the Annapurna circuit trek to enter the upper Mustang. The road now ends and visits by jeeps, we chose to make this trip by jeep to reach Samar. The road goes along Kali Gandaki and passes through the Tsuksang village. We change jeep after crossing the kali Gandaki rive to go up to Chele then pass two passes at 3600 and 3700 m. Then the path descends to the impressive Samar village. We will drive the 4h drive. Kagbeni is the gateway village to Mustang, a special permit is required.

Start trekking We leave the trail to reach the Chungsi cave which was a place of meditation by Guru Padmasambhava. After Visit the cave then we pass with a splendid view of the snow-capped mountain Annapurna range. We will Descent to Shyangboche and Climb to a small pass and descend into the Gelling. Also, we will Visit the green village of Geling

Today we will Ascent to the Nya La pass at 3,975 m, then from there, descent to Ghemi (3,545 m), with its white houses pressed against each other at the edge of the deep canyon of Tsarang Chu. The disrepair of the old Ghemi is abandoned for lack of water and merge with the very cut ocher cliffs. After Visit this beautiful village with windows decorated with red, green, and black. Gompa. We will ascent to the Drakmar village at the foot of the red cliffs at 3,860 m.

We will climb very steeply to a pass marked by a chorten at 3,900 m. breathtaking view of the Annapurna Himal and the Mustang. After walking a long we reach the very ancient monastery of Lo Gekar (or Ghar Gompa). We have Lunch here and visit of the monastery where immense statues of Buddha are enthroned near admirable sculptures. Then we will climb to Passing a chogo la pass at 4,200 m and descending into the vast plain Lo Mantang. The fortified city appears in the distance.

Early walk along the cliffs in a desert landscape. At the top of a pass appears Lo Mantang, capital of Mustang, and fortified city sheltering the palace of the king and three important monasteries.

Mustang is a region located in the northeast of Nepal. It is a historic territory whose capital is Lomathang. Access to foreigners was banned for a long time, only a few hundred visitors are allowed per year.

Today we will Discovery the Choeser Valley towards Tibet, The monasteries of Niphu and Garphu dominate the valley. We will climb Barcha to the Khonchok Ling cave by following a small river. The mineral landscape tinged with ocher and blue is breathtaking. We will ascent without dizzying to reach the cave and its treasures discovered recently. The peaceful of the place and the beauty of the site rewards the trying walk and Returns to Lo Mantang.

Today we will ascent 3,910 m pass on the path to Tsarang. Then path on the left in gentle slope which r dizzying and narrow. Again pass from a second pass to udi dada 4,300 m. After long descent of 1h45 to Dhi, (3,410 m), we will have Lunch in this beautiful village on the edge of Mustang Khola. The village has beautiful cultures. From here we cross the river on a bridge and steep climb in the scree. The path overlooks the river and the river has many fossils. At the cliffs, we leave the Puyan river and climb up to Yara.

We will ascent on the huge plateau facing to Yara then descent very steep t on the Ghechang River in the bed of which we find the most beautiful fossils. You will then go in the course of Mustang Khola, then of Tange Khola, or according to the season, by the path on the mountainside. Tange is a small village with white houses grouped under an organ pipe cliff at 3,060 m. Beautiful groups of chörtens

Today is a long day trek so we will depart very early in the morning from Tange. we will Cross the Tange river and climb steeply for 4 hours to reach a pass at 4,200m which is offering beautiful views to the north on the Mustang, Lo Mantang, and Dhaulagiri on the south. After lunch, cross 2 other passes at 4,400 and 4,500 m. From there, a fantastic view of a chain of cliffs below that look like fairy-tale castles.

We can view In the distance the Thorong Pass and Muktinath. Then a decent, at first easy then abrupt, to the village of Tsuksang at 2,965 m on the edge of the Kali Gandaki.

 we head east to reach the Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site of Muktinath. This is where hikers from the Annapurna circuit trek and arrive after crossing the Thorong La pass. Visit the magnificent and impressive site before we descend by jeep to Jomsom for the night.

Road to Beni then Pokhara by bus or 4×4 depending on availability. We will Departure early in the morning to Beni by a difficult track. We drive the long road along the Kali Gandaki River and Enjoying Impressive landscapes with its waterfalls, high mountains, and gorges, the deepest in Nepal. During this journey, you will pass through typical Nepalese villages. Arrival in Beni change of transport, the road to Pokhara the big city.

Warm Breakfast and then transfer to the airport and Flight to Pokhara / Kathmandu. After reach in Kathmandu and transfer at the hotel. Free day afternoon, rest, or the possibility to visit the tourist district of Thamel for those who wish.

We will drive you back to Tribhuvan International Airport for your scheduled flight to your destination.

About Accommodations/Meals: All Meals on full board basis will be served during Manaslu / Narpu Valley trekking. During trekking; three meals a day will be served according to the tea house/lodge/ homestay menus. Everyday’s dinner and breakfast are taken in the same place that we stay the night. Lunch will be taken in a tea shop on the way. Please know that the Manaslu region does not have a well-established tourist infrastructure as like as Annapurna or Everest region (and this is the main beauty of this region). I.e. variety of foods will not be available or possible on menu. We mainly eat Tibetan bread, dal bhat, tsampa porridge, fried potato, and other simple local organic foods.
